Heidi Mortenson

About Heidi Mortenson

Influenced by equal parts of her mother's organ playing and her father's noisy automotive work, Heidi Mortenson grew up in a small town in Denmark. She later moved to Copenhagen to study modern dance and art, but ended up discovering electronic music. This resulted in a swift move to Barcelona, where she began an intensive study of electronics and electronic music. Her sound is a hybrid between the anti-folk of Ani DiFranco and the experimental IDM of Kevin Blechdom (whom she has the occasion to collaborate with in a live setting), and her live performances are a multimedia presentation of visuals and custom-made instrumentation. Her debut album Wired Stuff was issued on Wired recordings in April of 2006. ~ Rob Theakston
