About Motherlode

Formed in the late '60s in Ontario by saxophonist Steve Kennedy, guitarist Ken Marco, keyboard player William "Smitty" Smith, and drummer Wayne Stone, Motherlode scored with a Top 40 hit in 1969 -- the smooth "When I Die." Two years after the release of the album of the same title, though, the group had broken up. ~ John Bush
