About Mr. Airplane Man

Mr. Airplane Man was one of the first blues-oriented guitar and drum duos, predating even the White Stripes. Heavily influenced by the primal electric blues of Howlin' Wolf (even naming themselves after one of his songs) and the equally cathartic buzz and howl of the Stooges, Boston-based guitarist Margaret Garrett and drummer/organist Tara McManus debuted with a pair of self-released EPs that got them signed to the punk-garage label Sympathy for the Record Industry for 2001's RED LITE. That was followed by 2002's MOANIN', 2003's C'MON DJ, and 2004's SHAKIN' AROUND.
