About My Darkest Days

My Darkest Days was a hard-rocking, hard-partying Canadian rock band whose X-rated anthem, “Porn Star Dancing,” topped Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs Chart in 2010. ∙ Formed by frontman Matt Walst in 2005, My Darkest Days caught an early break in 2008 when they won a local radio contest, which provided the band with studio time and money to tour. ∙ After hearing their demo, Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger signed the band to his label, 604 Records, and went on to coproduce their self-titled 2010 debut album. ∙ Kroeger featured on “Porn Star Dancing”—My Darkest Days’ lead single—as did Black Label Society founder Zakk Wylde, while rapper Ludacris was tapped to appear on the remix. ∙ In 2012, My Darkest Days released their sophomore album, Sick and Twisted Affair, which reached No. 9 on Billboard’s Alternative Albums chart. ∙ Walst, whose brother Brad is a founding member of Three Days Grace, was invited to become that band’s new lead vocalist following the 2013 departure of singer Adam Gontier.
