Sir Harry Secombe

About Sir Harry Secombe

After leaving the armed forces, Harry Secombe teamed up with Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, and Michael Bentine to form the beloved British 1950s radio comedy team the Goons. With his resonant Welsh baritone, he recorded numerous light operatic arias as well as popular tunes, becoming a regular fixture at Royal Command performances, from the '50s through to the '80s. In 1963, Secombe played the lead in the musical PICKWICK taking the show’s big ballad "If I Ruled The World" into the U.K. Top 20. In 1967, he took Charlie Chaplin’s "This Is My Song" to number 2, only kept off the top by Petula Clark’s version of the same song.
