Reseña de álbum

This 1984 record is complied from a Stereoddities release and a separate two-record set that was intended for broadcast use but never issued commercially. The notes on the jacket are biographical rather than specific to the sessions and don't bother to identify composers, though it does label which tracks are solo and which feature Blake in duo or trio performances with pianists Joe Jordan and Charles Thompson. The highlights, of course, are Blake's solos of his orignals like "Tricky Fingers," "Dictys On Seventh Avenue" and his timeless hit "Memories of You," all of which he continued to play to the end of his career. The duets and trios are less memorable due to the honky tonk sound often added to one or more pianos, and the less than spectacular reproduction from the deteriorated master tapes. It's still worth acquiring, particularly when compared to the option of locating the originals.
