Repping for British Columbia, Madchild is part of the Swollen Members crew, which has been making music since the early '90s and is one of the most popular rap groups in Canadian history. Rocking an instantly recognizable, high-pitched flow, his rhymes are a comical blend of hardcore and humor (think early Eminem, Necro, The Beatnuts), set to production that’s clean, funky, and extremely catchy throughout. The six tracks here bring up his usual topics (women, intoxication, fame, notoriety, and hip-hop) but also get more personal, touching on his time at the methadone clinic and the millions he made and lost. It’s a rock-solid EP, paving the way for his upcoming full-length, Dope Sick. Whether you're an old-school fan or never heard of the dude, this is well worth checking out. "Cyphin", "I'm OK", and "Black Acid Devil" (with Moka Only) are standouts.
