Having explored everything from party anthems to militant Rastafarian politics on their early releases, British reggae group Steel Pulse finally settled into the perfectly balanced sound that would come to define them on True Democracy. The raw, pointed lyrics of the confrontational "A Who Responsible" and biting "Man No Sober" are juxtaposed with unapologetically slick production and sophisticated, layered arrangements, especially on tracks like the fluid "Leggo Beast". This is Steel Pulse in their most mature, fully realised form.
