Charmingly muddy soundboard tapes from an early-'80s radio broadcast show Captain Beefheart's band in a place of precision and fury on Ashtray Heart: Toronto Broadcast 1981. Recorded around the time of the group's dicey art rock masterpiece Doc at the Radar Station, the set list is heavy on tracks from that album, while touching on older material like the gonzo garage bounce of "Abba Zaba" as well as the intense album opener, "Nowadays a Woman's Gotta Hit a Man."
