About Billy Price

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was in my early 20s, I toured and recorded with the virtuoso blues guitarist Roy Buchanan. We did two albums together for Polydor Records, That’s What I’m Here For and Live Stock, and I toured with Roy and his band in the early 1970s. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Al Green, Al Green Gets Next to You Bobby "Blue" Bland, Unmatched: The Very Best of Bobby Bland Otis Redding, Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul (Collector's Edition) I cite Bobby Bland as my favorite blues singer and Al Green as my favorite soul singer. But I also have to give credit to Otis Blue by Otis Redding: it was the first album I recall hearing that grabbed me, sent chills down my spine, and never let go. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “39 Steps” I recorded this at Greaseland in San Jose with Kid Andersen producing. It's a great song written by my frequent writing partner Jim Britton. I love the story and love to sing it, and the performances by the studio musicians and vocalists is amazing.
