About Carol Sloane

After deputizing for Annie Ross with Lambert, Hendricks & Ross in 1960, Carol Sloane was signed to Columbia, releasing her debut the following year. She also made a number of television appearances singing with the Skitch Henderson band on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show. By the late '60s, Sloane’s style was out of step with audience demands, and she moved to North Carolina, taking employment as a legal secretary. In the late '70s she returned to New York where she worked with the pianist Jimmy Rowles, and recorded a fine 1978 album. Her sporadic recording career took off in the early '90s, with a succession of albums for Concord Records.
