Under the name Gossamer, Los Angeles-based producer Evan Reiner creates intricate, atmospheric electronic music and experimental hip-hop, often marked by ghostly voices and obsessively recorded found sounds and acoustic instruments. Similar to artists affiliated with L.A. music collectives like WeDidIt and Brainfeeder, Gossamer gravitates toward fractured, bass-heavy downtempo beats, but occasionally produces more uptempo, abstract techno/house tracks. After issuing a series of well-received EPs, Reiner released his debut full-length, Automaton, via Innovative Leisure. ~ Paul Simpson.
