About La Castañeda

Taking its name from a psychiatric hospital in Mexico City, la Castañeda emerged in the early '90s, debuting with an independent album called Servicios Generales before signing up to BMG's Culebra, issuing Servicios Generales II in 1993, internationally released by BMG/Ariola a year later. The band led by singer Salvador Moreno used to perform its deep and obscure songs in dark environments, creating the ideal atmosphere for its Latin alternative pop/rock style. After 1995's EL Globo Negro and 1996's El Hijo de Plata, la Castañeda self-produced Trance distributed through Castañeda Records-Pentagrama, carrying out a farewell tour called Desaparición (Disappearance) in late 2000. ~ Drago Bonacich
