About Lollipop

Lollipop is a popular Norwegian television show from the early '90s that features pop music from the 1950s and '60s. The show stars singer/actor Rune Larsen and singer/songwriter Tor Endresen, among others, and spawned a series of soundtrack album releases. Broadcast on television station NRK, Lollipop made its debut in 1989 and aired for around 30 episodes. In addition to Larsen and Endresen, the show features a backing band called the Lollipops that is comprised of Trygve Thue (guitar), Stein Hauge (vocals, guitar), Ole Amund Gjersvik (bass), Øyvind Haugland (drums), and Geir Johannessen (piano). The show is named after "Lollipop," a 1958 song by the Chordettes. Soundtrack albums from the show include Lollipop (1989), Lollipop 2 (1990), and Lollipop Jukebox (1991), all of which were released by the label Noah. Latter-day compilations of Lollipop material include Det Beste fra Lollipop (1995) and 50 Besta fra Lollipop (2009), both of which were Top Ten hits on the Norwegian albums chart. ~ Jason Birchmeier
