Proving once again that shamelessly posting home videos on the internet can make you a bona fide superstar, Youngston, Ohio's Matt Toka got his big shot in the biz when Scooter Braun, the same talent agent responsible for finding Justin Bieber on YouTube, phoned him personally after watching him play an acoustic version of Asher Roth's “I Love College” into a webcam. With green hair, a leather jacket, and boyish good looks (imagine a young John Mayer, complete with the overly sincere singing mannerisms), the image was set, and the Green Day-loving suburbanite kid next door recorded his debut, a self-titled EP released in 2012 on Reprise Records. ~ Jason Lymangrover
