Olivier Chauzu

About Olivier Chauzu

French-Spanish pianist Olivier Chauzu studied at the Conservatory of Bordeaux, and was a student of Gabriel Tacchino at the Paris Conservatoire. He also studied with Théodore Paraskivesco, Jean-Claude Pennetier, Christian Ivaldi, Leon Fleisher, and Dmitri Bashkirov. Chauzu traveled to Canada to study with György Sebök, Paul Badura-Skoda, and Anton Kuerti at the Banff Center. He received his doctorate in Spanish literature at the University of Pau, and took part in the Romance Language Laboratory at Pays de l'Adour. Known as a specialist in Debussy, Chauzu is also a noted interpreter of the music of Albéniz, Granados, and Dukas, as well as standard repertoire by Beethoven and Schumann. Chauzu has performed with many orchestras, including the Mexico Philharmonic Orchestra, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and Cappella Istropolitana, and he has performed with Pierre Amoyal, Nicholas Angelich, Raphael Perraud, Staffan Mårtensson, Roland Daugareil, François Leleux, and Jean-Pierre Armengaud.
