About Robert Post

Emerging in the same mid-noughties period as James Blunt, Daniel Powter, and James Morrison, Norwegian Robert Post was another singer/songwriter whose sound was steeped in the classic AOR of the '70s. Born in the small village of Langevag in 1979, Post was a jobbing musician for several years but got his big break during a stint as a taxi driver, when a record company executive overheard one of his demos playing in the car. After signing to Mercury, he released his debut EP, The Way We Are, in 2004, and recorded his full-length self-titled album with producer Mike Hedges (Manic Street Preachers) a year later. After supporting Aimee Mann and Texas on their U.K. tours, he scored a minor hit single with "Got None," won two Spellemannprisen Awards (the Norwegian equivalent of the Grammys), and performed with Rufus Wainwright and Imogen Heap at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. His self-produced sophomore album, Disarm & Let Go, came out in 2009. ~ Jon O'Brien
