About The Dirtmitts

Forming in Vancouver, Canada, in 1994, the Dirtmitts offer melodious compositions flowing between alternative rock and pop styles. Natasha Thirsk (vocals, guitar), Dallas Kruszelnicki (guitar), Jen Deon (bass), and Jason Lajeunesse (drums) are the quartet responsible for the band's creations. Inspired by experimental acts like Sonic Youth and Cocteau Twins, and daring to present melodious and tense impressions of the pop style, the Canadians managed to build a reasonable following, both locally and beyond their national frontiers. After several years, during which they recorded various self-released cassettes and discs and played numerous concerts, the band entered the studio to record their debut eponymous album. Securing the work of producer Darryl Neudorf, The Dirtmitts was finally issued in 2001, before the group embarked upon their first major tour. Upon returning home, the band stepped back into the studio and began recording again with Matthew Good sideman Dave Genn. Delivering their album by the following October, Get On was released in Canada that month but delayed until November for the U.S. and European releases. ~ Mario Mesquita Borges
