"I Was Here First…"by Castle Builders (IL) and Chen Merary
The book is about a dog, struggling with the arrival of a new child in the family where the dog has already been living for quite some time. Written in rhymes, the story is essentially a monologue narrated by the dog from his own perspective. It is accompanied by talented illustrator and animator Dave Titus's illuminating drawings.
The book is intended for children between 3-5 years of age and serves two main purposes: First, through the story, children learn that all living creatures and our pets amongst them are affected by changes in our lives and have feelings which must be taken into consideration. Second, metaphorically, the book helps firstborns to deal with the arrival of a small brother or sister.
The book is narrated out loud in sync with highlighted text alongside colorful and lively illustrations and wonderful music.
