Essential to a Japanese language student
I rated this app 3 1/2 years ago, when I first started studying Japanese. I'm 4 years in now and have never used another app. This is the only one you need, and now it is free.
In my 4 years of study, I've made over 400 lists. I've loaded the program down with so many long and meticulous notes, that a normal app probably wouldn't even be able to start. But this is no normal app. This is a piece of ingenuity. I don't know how the programmers did it, but they made the sturdiest app I've ever used. Sure it crashes sometimes, but never has data been lost, and with an easy backup system that sends the data right to my inbox, I can rest assured my 400 lists and endless notes are not going anywhere soon. I trust this app with my life, because my life is Japanese study.
Best app ever.
Best Japanese Dictionary I've Used.
I've had this for a while and love it. I actually finished translating a whole lot of Japanese text over the last two weeks, and this didtionary was immensely helpful when I had to look things up. The only problem with the current version is that, like that other user, the app doesn't seem to remember its state on my iPad Air after I updated to iOs 8.1. It put a bit of a crimp in my kanji memorization, but It's not insurmountable. However, I do hope that the developers get that issue sorted out in the next update. That being said, for the value I've gotten over the years that I've had this dictionary, I can't recommend it enough.
Best dictionary and app for anyone studying Japanese!!
For years I have been using imiwa? as my go-to Japanese dictionary and it's pretty great, but Renzo is so much better! It has more features such as SRS flashcards for the JLPT, various subjects such as medicine or chemistry, and you can make your own lists too. What I also like is that it shows you verb and adjective conjugations and if you do not know a Kanji's reading, you can draw it. Please note that you have to use the correct stroke order in order for the dictionary to recognize it. My only complaint is that the flashcard system is not customizable and repeats some cards too much. Otherwise I highly recommend this app!
