Game play is good
Okay so the multiplayer is not very good. You have to play with somebody at your house. That should be fixed. However, I'm a cert experiences player and it's hit or miss on the hardest difficulty. I've played on the hardest setting one-on-one versus the A.I. and won 85% of my games. I've also played on the hardest setting and played 1 vs 3 computer players and won 75% of the time. However lately it seems as though the hardest setting doesn't make the a.i. better at all. It only makes the probability that you will land of their places extremely high and that they land on yours extremely low. A perfect example? The firsts few trips around the board I will only end up landing on a purchasable property 3 or 4 times while the a.i. end up with 6-8. When there are only 8 owned property's after the first 2 turns the odds that I land on their spaces or mine 3 out of 4 turns after are so low that I after better odds at winning the lottery. MAKE THE A.I. BETTER INSTEAD OF MAKING MY DICE ROLLS B.S.!!!
Fun but terrible AI
At the easy and hard level of play, the game is terrible. Only then normal difficulty level makes any sense and is fun.
Skill level of the computer options are:
Easy - no thought needed. The computer makes nonsensical moves, sometimes a player refuses to even buy properties!
Normal - a fun game. Seems legit, though the computer favors trades with itself to promote computer player monopolies over trades with you.
Hard - dice rolls for human players favor taxes and computer owned lands. I will frequently play hard and hit "income tax" every time I circle the board. The computers seldom, about 1 in 6 times will land on your developed properties. Even at late game when I own every property on two adjacent sides of the board with full hotels, the computer will fully circle the board four or five times without hitting 1 of my properties. Yes, this is possible mathematically, but 4 out of every 5 winning games I play, this happens. It seems the game is programmed to ensure a time duration of play is met, not truly random rolls. So often I find myself saying "end the game computer!! It's over", but then I get to play 10 minutes more so the bot can keep playing a hopeless game.
Also, why are there no skins? Star Wars, Nintendo, Elvis, etc... Monopoly has been sold in hundreds of skins, but none are available for the digital version??
Finally, it's a fun game, just don't expect the bots to play smart or fair.
Flawed but good
I love MONOPOLY so I play this game a lot and enjoy it but it does have a few quirks that make it less fun than it could be. The main problem is the animations that to make the game take forever to play. I really wish there was an option to turn these off. Not only do they take a long time but the motion can be nausea inducing.
If you understand basic strategy of the game the AI is not very challenging even on the hardest setting. I tend to win 2/3rds of the time against 2 opponents at the highest setting. It amazes me the other reviewers claim the AI is cheating. It definitely is not. The die rolls are clearly random. Don't blame them for when you lose.
The bottom line is that if you like the board game you'll like this app. It includes many options for house rules if you play that way. So download it and enjoy.
