Gold Standard of weather apps, but...

This app, deserves its kudos for cutting the clutter and putting the data (design) first.

On the iPad it still beats the updates form The Weather Channel (with all its clunky tapping and ads). On iPhone the difference isn't as great, but TWC insists on putting too much information (and oversized ads) so you scroll forever to get to radar info.

Wish List
1. BETTER RADAR
This app's radar maps are still unreliable. Ground clutter and radar artifacts make it useless at times to know where the rain is. It's slow to load and animate. I find I have to launch TWC to know what's really coming my way.

2. Trend lines ON iPhone!
I absolutely love the 24 hours forecast plot. It's so intuitive and easy to follow. It's the #1 reason I use the iPad app. WHY aren't they on the iPhone? The design should easily scale down to the small screen, especially in landscape

3. Trend lines for 5/10 forecast
What works by the hour should work by the day. Please replace the day panels with trend lines so I can quick scan a week like I do a day. You could also just let me horizontal scroll the hourly section.

4. Straight to the data
Could we have a preference to start with all the data instead of just the summary? The number of photos for many locations are limited and often "wrong" (snow in June in MN has never happened). It would save a swipe/scroll if it started "as if" already scroll to the top.

Beautiful interface

I used TWC for years, but when they started using those animated ads that were so distracting (and not even designed well) & changed to B/W photos, I had to find an alternative. I'm not exactly a Yahoo fan, but I thought I'd give it a try. Right away I loved the color photos. I also liked some of the graphics of information, e.g sunrise, sunset and the moon cycles. Yes, it has a lot of data that makes the site a bit busy. And, I'm not sure if it's more accurate than TWC (well, just about every weather app seems to fluctuate in accuracy, but TWC was far more flawed than most), but it loads faster and gives me all what I need/want---EXCEPT for allergy information. No tree, grass, or weed pollen "count." Nobody seems to do mold levels any more, but I keep hoping! Maybe, Yahoo Weather, you can bring in pollen levels AND mold to separate yourself from the rest of these apps. It's no pollen info that caused my review to be 4 instead or 5 stars.

Great weather app!!!

On this very rare occasion, I've decided that this app is indeed worth rating. I love that all the pertinent info is on one screen. No waiting for the next screen to load after pushing several icons, etc. Everything you would possibly be checking the news for as far as conditions is in this weather app, except of course the closings, lol. It's very detailed and no meteorologist gibberish. The Flickr photos in the background, although irrelevant to the current conditions, are beautiful and at least seem to be from this general area (or surrounding areas). What I would like to see however, is a more diverse variety of photos. It would be cool if the photos were an accurate indication of the current conditions, but that may be pushing it. Good job yahoo, maybe the next update will take some of these reviews into consideration.
