Gnaposs, from Barcelona introducing his album "Happiness, Vol I" (RGB Suports, 2011)
Since the last five years, David Muñoz "Gnaposs" works as a session musician with the renowned Catalan group Els Pets. As a guitarist, David has worked with people like Shuarma, The Bon Scott Band or Lorenzo Santamaria and teaches guitar at the renowned Aula de Jazz del Liceo de Barcelona. Also, this guitar player has a long career as the front-man of his own project.
Gnaposs was founded in Los Angeles, California, by David Muñoz "Gnaposs" with the recording of their first album in 2002, produced by TJ Helmerich (Tribal Tech, Scott Henderson, Dweezil Zappa, etc) and blessed by Scott Henderson who collaborated with two guitar solos. "Locuras" (2005) and "Outsider" (2008) are the two albums that followed during his Spanish era.
Recently selected among 1600 bands for the prestigious circuit "Girando por salas" Gnaposs is a project dedicated to Funk, Rock and Blues not living their back to other styles such as Blue-Grass, Jazz or Jazz-Fusion. Gnaposs has just released his fourth album, "Happiness, Vol. I" (RGB Suports, 2011) and will be presenting it during the year 2012 around Europe, beginning with two concerts at the prestigious Jamboree in Barcelona on the 9th and 10th of December of this 2011.
His music, although full of eclecticism, is easily digested. Gnaposs, in its fourth effort, is still characterized by a great production and a sophisticated arrangement on every track. The album was co-produced by Gnaposs himself and Miguel Pino at La Catacumba Estudio, Barcelona.
Gnaposs has always been a very active project on the road. They took part in festivals such as Festival de guitarra de Barcelona, Black Music Festival (opening for their idols Tower Of Power in one edition and for Living Colour in another one), Festival de Blues de Cerdanyola, Festival de Jazz de Vitoria, Festival de Blues de Reus, Full Moon Funk de Madrid, Mas i Mas Festival, Festival de Jazz de Vic, Senglar Rock and many more ... and more than 400 concerts in clubs all over Spain. Concerts have always been known for its unpredictability, the constant improvisation of the band members and the high level of execution with their instruments. During the last few years, Gnaposs has built a good solid fanbase Spain.
David Muñoz "Gnaposs" graduated with honors in 2000 at the prestigious Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, California, where he also earned the "Best Stylist Award” of his promotion.
The great guitar player Scott Henderson said of Gnaposs "... I love it! Good songs and his performance with the guitar sounds great - great tone too ..." After that, this guitarist recorded two guitar solos in the first Gnaposs album "Party With Yourself" (2002).
If you depart from James Brown, turn right to Miles Davis, go straight to Led Zeppelin and turn left to Stevie Ray Vaughan, you have arrived to Gnaposs, a unique and brilliant fusion of Funk, Rock, Blues and a little bit of Jazz .
