The follow-up to the '60s soul-pop influenced Melody, Texas' lead vocalist Sharleen Spiteri's second album, The Movie Songbook, is an affectionate homage to her favourite film soundtrack songs. Produced by South African composer Phil Ramone, it includes easy listening acoustic reworkings of familiar tracks like Olivia Newton John's "Xanadu," Roy Orbison's "Pretty Woman," and Berlin's Top Gun classic "Take My Breath Away," alongside lesser-known songs from Elliott Smith ("Between the Bars," from Good Will Hunting) and Tom Waits' "This One's from the Heart." ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi
