Album Review

From the legendary vocalist Alfredo Zitarossa comes this album displaying his vocal talents in all their glory, Guitarra Negra. The album starts out with an Argentine chamamita, performed beautifully. It then moves into a candombe, followed by a cancion. A beautiful milonga follows, and a stately cancion. The music may lope along for a bit, but remains tight enough to stay chipper. The setting is largely just at the right level for a nice bit of relaxation. For fans of Astor Piazzolla's work, this might also prove to be something of a nice little find, as Zitarossa performed vocals here and there throughout Piazzolla's catalogs. Zitarossa is a worthy listen for those entering the genre, as well as those already accustomed to the genre.
