About Meta4

Founded in 2001, Meta4 is a Finnish string quartet. The ensemble won first prize in 2004 at the International Shostakovich Quartet Competition in Moscow, and in 2007 won first prize in the International Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition in Vienna. In recognition of the group's success, in 2007 Meta4 received the Finland Prize from the Finnish Minister of Culture, and in 2008 became a BBC New Generation Artist. The string quartet has performed around Europe, with appearances in Vienna, London, Madrid, Paris, and Stockholm, and participated in music festivals, such as the Oulunsalo Music Festival and the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival. Meta4 has recorded for Haenssler Classic and Ondine.
