Album Review

Pianist Mike Longo is still best-known for his long association with Dizzy Gillespie but he has also worked with James Moody, led quite a few recording dates of his own, and kept busy in his post-Gillespie years. Longo is heard throughout this CD in top form, mostly exploring jazz standards including "Woody 'n' You," "Tin Tin Deo," and "Limehouse Blues." His one original, "Dawn of a New Day," is a medium-tempo blues.
