In Scissor Sisters’ world, glitter rains down from clouds and Elton John reigns supreme. But the New York group’s exuberant debut proves there’s substance behind the camp. Their Bee Gees-esque reboot of the Pink Floyd classic “Comfortably Numb” is a mind-melting marvel, while “Take Your Mama” is a barn-stomper about coming out in style. From the lyrical balladry of “Return to Oz” to the raunchy electro-pop of “Filthy/Gorgeous”, Scissor Sisters' music belies the band’s '70s-baby influences.
