About Eyvind Kang
Using structures similar to those of classical music, and conventions similar to those in jazz, violinist Eyvind Kang drew from a variety of traditional and popular styles. In 1994, he received a grant and used it to record a series of compositions called "NADEs." 7 NADEs was released in 1996, followed two years later by Theater of Mineral NADEes. He subsequently played with John Zorn, the Sun City Girls, and Wayne Horvitz. The violinist became prolific when the century turned. He worked as a studio musician and arranger for numerous acts, and he joined Bill Frisell's 858 Quartet. Among Kang's most important solo recordings are The Story of Iceland (2000), Athlantis (2007), and The Narrow Garden (2012). ~ Joslyn Layne & Thom Jurek
