Fraggle Rock

About Fraggle Rock

An international extension of the legendary puppeteer and animator Jim Henson's Muppets universe, Fraggle Rock debuted in 1983 as a co-production of Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Described by its creator as "a high-energy, raucous musical romp," the series followed the adventures of a group of fantasy creatures (Fraggles, Doozers, Gorgs, and The Silly Creatures of Outer Space) as they navigated themes of prejudice, spirituality, personal identity, the environment, and social conflict. The program aired for five seasons before ending in 1987. In 2020, Apple TV+ began airing Fraggle Rock: Rock On! Shorts, which resulted in a reboot of the popular series. The first season of Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock began airing in 2002, and yielded the soundtrack of the same name, which featured guest spots from Patti Labelle, Cynthia Erivo, Daveed Diggs, Ed Helms, Kenan Thompson, and Foo Fighters. ~ James Christopher Monger
