Pupil have been described by fans and critics as a supergroup alliance with the attitude and distortion turned up to 11—the band is, after all, made up of members from big-name 1990s bands that were known for grungy slacker anthems. Facing the fresh verve of the 2000s, Pupil were throwing riffage slings and lyrical arrows right out of the gate with singles like “Nasaan Ka?”. The shambolic energy that defined their 2005 debut album Beautiful Machines has continued, and it looks unlikely they will forget the garage punks in their souls.
