About Scalameriya

Serbian producer and DJ Scalameriya has carved himself a unique niche in the saturated world of techno, bringing together rudiments of the harder-edged side of the scene, with broken beats and sci-fi-sounding elements as heard on his 2018 EP Hellzone Megapunk, on Perc Trax. Hailing from Kragujevac, Serbia's fourth largest city, Scalameriya quickly developed his own sound without influence from the wider techno scene. Bringing together his love of anime, sci-fi, and gaming into his music, Scalameriya first debuted on his own label, Genesa, in 2009, with the release of the Sandstorm EP. A minimal techno exploration, the release signaled the start of the dystopian sound that would grace his releases over the next few years. Scalameriya started making a name for himself with releases on Eminor, Phobiq, and Globox, as well as touring Europe as a successful DJ before teaming up with Bosnian producer Forest People in 2012 for the release of Devicta on Planet Rhythm Records. More releases followed for Scalameriya on his own with the label, including 2014's Lock Down and Subterranean Transmitter EPs, while the following year he joined forces with Italian producer VSK for releases on Power Vacuum and Perc Trax. Scalameriya's sound shifted away from the atmospheric, dystopian techno he'd become known for into a more frenetic, industrial-tinged sound and in 2016 he released his debut album, Hubris, on his own label. Over the next two years, Scalameriya, delivered EPs for London-based Them, Tommy Four Seven's 47 imprint, and the Hellzone Megapunk EP for Perc Trax. 2019 saw him return to Power Vacuum with Enhance… Stop! and also Them, with the Forsaken EP. ~ Rich Wilson
