The project of Luke Donovan, Spectral Park combines sampling and furious garage pop into a psychedelic onslaught. The Southampton, England-based multi-instrumentalist rescued a box of old records he found on the curb, then sampled and tweaked these sounds into songs that captured the galloping thrust of the Amboy Dukes and the wild sonics of legendary producer Joe Meek. The first taste of Spectral Park arrived in late 2011 with the Factory Peeled EP, which featured the jangly cut "Pale Glistens." Early in 2012, Donovan released the "L'Appel du Vide" single, a manic piece of psych pop that was a harbinger of Spectral Park's self-titled debut album, which Mexican Summer issued in February 2013. ~ Heather Phares
