About U-Brown
Inspired by the legendary Jamaican DJ, U-Roy, Huford Brown began his career DJing on the Silver Bullet Sound System in the early-70s. Dubbing himself U. Brown, his impassioned, half-rapped vocals bore an uncanny resemblance to his hero. In 1976 he scored a hit with "Starsky And Hutch," which led to a series of albums produced by Bunny Lee. U. Brown moved to a major (Virgin) on which he released "Black Star Liners"/"River John Mountain" a huge hit in 1978. Brown's frequent visits to the U.K. (with its burgeoning reggae scene) gained him wider audience. In 1981, he made a triumphant comeback with a dancehall version of Dennis Brown’s "If This World Were Mine," retitled "Tu-Sheng-Peng."
