Formed in college like so many other bands, this outfit delves into folk-rock, also like so many other college bands. Thankfully, their songwriting ability (a duty shared by three of the four members) is good, and they have developed a tight, accessible sound. What is missing is a distinct character to set them truly apart from the pack. Lead singer Reid Genauer hits all the notes, but his vocal ability is nothing special. While album opener "Roads" has an easy forward motion and some catchy hooks, the disc gets nondescript as it moves on.

Formed together by two college students from the University of Vermont, Reid Genauer (vocals/ guitar) and Jon Trafton (guitar) spent the first year together under the name Stranefolk while performing in pubs and coffee houses all throughout campus. Armed with only their acoustic guitars and distortion pedals, Genauer and Trafton eventually recruited Erik Glockler on bass and Luke Smith on drums, fulfilling the line-up as a four piece.
