One of the decade's undiscovered music gems!!!

Detours, made up of Sam Johnson, Ez Jon Erikson and Julian Flindle, with their remarkable co-producer and session musician Paul Adshead, have created an album here that is quite simply a masterpiece! The opening track 'Together' acts as an anthem for all those wannabe rock stars for who "somehow life got in the way". Then the following tracks deal with observations of situations familiar to so many in life, the struggles and joy of relationships, and the frustrations life deals out (e.g. the subject of 'Reality' is a single mother struggling to come to terms with the limitations her situation enforces on her). The closing, breathtaking 12 minute epic title track focuses on the suffering, devastation and destruction caused by either natural disaster, politics or war and asks "if a God exists why does he allow such pain to be felt?" This arrangement is such a musical journey that will leave you almost breathless by the end but hitting the repeat button on the stereo! Detours and Ez Jon Erikson always know how to cover a lot of lyrical and musical ground on an album, drawing on their rock, pop, folk, country, soul and gospel influences. Reminiscent of The Beatles, Bee Gees, and KISS, all members of Detours share the lead vocals. The whole album is a lyrical and melodic success, and the arrangements are very cleverly executed, with incredible harmonies and such a wide range of instruments. The two most probable single type tracks are 'Games', and 'For Your Love'. Highly recommended!
