iTunes Review

Released just three years after the band’s official break-up, “The Blue Album” put The Beatles’ later-year tracks into one package (released simultaneously with “The Red Album”) featuring key songs from the group’s albums as well as stand-alone singles. With music that signified the group’s own development as well as the culture around them, this selection of material from albums such as Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road contains some of their most radical studio experiments and most loved songs.

A mate bought this for me shortly after its release but later on it was stolen. Until now I've never been able to get hold of Hey Jude and Revolution (which is loads better than Revolution 9 on the White Album) as they were only released on a single and I'd missed the boat on that some time ago(!) so this is a real treat. Every single track on here is just a classic of the highest order.

[And please, don't just post to say "iTunes rip off! I can buy it ££s cheaper in (store of your choice)". We already know that someone, somewhere is selling everything for less than you paid already as everyone reading this has access to the internet. iTunes is cluttered with thousands of similarly pointless posts. We can logon or walk into (store of your choice) and buy. It's called choice. Thank you for listening.]

People have a point

I love this album and have done so since I bought it on audio cassette many moons ago. However, as some people have commented, it's no use saying "iTunes is full of comments about how you can buy albums elsewhere for less". The point is valid. You can. Why download an album simply because it's now available on iTunes when you could buy it for much less AND own the hard copy too?

I'm pleased to see that it's now possibly to download the Beatles work on iTunes, especially as it will allow people to download their favourite tracks and build up their own "Best Of" collections. But it seems churlish, on a site where reviews and comments are encouraged, to ask people to avoid mentioning where a better deal is available. That's called choice too, you know.....

Thank You

To whoever brought about The Beatles on iTunes. Thank you

Formed: 1957 in Liverpool, England

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '60s

So much has been said and written about the Beatles -- and their story is so mythic in its sweep -- that it's difficult to summarize their career without restating clichés that have already been digested by tens of millions of rock fans. To start with the obvious, they were the greatest and most influential act of the rock era, and introduced more innovations into popular music than any other rock band of the 20th century. Moreover, they were among the few artists of any discipline that were simultaneously...
