Superdiva...A Royal Regal Intro signals Ashley has arrived, a fantastic scottish sexy talentThe beats kicks in and you feel the last 25 years of pop/disco, Donna Summer hypnotic bass verses, Lady Gaga synth stabs middle 8's and the chorus echoes Kylie Minouges catchiest hooks. Superdiva? You bet....Then the gospel choir appears and is surprising. Like robbie williams jamming with the pet shop boys. You can feel how she combines all her inspirations and makes it her own.
The Dream...Haunting piano intrro develops into a slower pulse beat than the first track. Melancholic sounds build up into a tense crescendo. A song that reminds me of madonna and then mixes it with Depech Modes Enjoy The Silence. Set Me Free she sings, the dark hook circulates round your head, dream like quality in the vocal
means you think your in her dream for 4 minutes
Love By Satelitte....The hard exotic drum compliments the Angelic grand piano.A reflective ballad shows off Ashleys range as a female vocalist, stripped bare. Its a thought provoking sad song. Its personal touch supported by a phone message from a lover who is a million miles away, it must be a song about love over distance?Wouldnt be out of place if this was written for Cheryl Cole but without the divorce
Loving You.....If electronic can do Rock , this is what it sounds like. Instruments are played with a Passion. Piano of previous songs backs vocal with rocking bass. Synth samples are spirilling up and down , like the ups and downs of the song titles emotion. She urges you onto the dancefloor to 'show you what you can do', but by now we know she will wipe the floor with you with her music
Robot Rat Race....Miltary digital rock dancing to a beat. About the rat race of life, very current in 2010 when everyone under 30 is questioning the world. Ashley has captured the times and i think this shows her versatality, echoes of kate bush being so creative with the melody. A daring song that suggests we should dance to a different beat or everyday is just the same.
Your The One....Acoustic and personal, Ashley bares her soul with a really standout Vocal. The band groove and the playing is delicate and played with tenderness. Ashley is not a soundalike, but some people might hear The Corrs unplugged and adds her style too, electronic, swirling round your headphones until you fall in love with her. You can tell she is really comfortable in this sound
Claustrophobia...Paranoid synths against a uptempo beat. Look behind you, its a thriller with a Lion that stalks you after the chorus. Take me back to the dancefloor, Ash wants to scare you into dancing, reminds me of Rockwells Somebody Watching Me? This time sung by a soulful diva. Flavours of 80's films like The Lost Boys and Nightmare On Elm Street, This would suit credits on any Fright Night Thriller.
First Love....Ashley excells at personal songs written from the heart. Here again Acoustic fills the opening verse, but the production here is superb. Breaking into a strong chorus like a duet with Kelly Clarkson. I thought Ms Collins was an electronic pop artist? but here we see she knows the songs of Alanisse Morrisette. She can rock out when she wants too. This will go down live well Acoustically!
Sugar Rush...This song combines her electronic muses with a thundering rock chorus. Uplifting, summery song, this song makes you feel good. Its a mash of all her styles electronic, strong vocals, rocking uplifting chorus backed by superb strings and backing vocals. I think this one stays in your head and makes you play
it a few times. I think ashley raps, which brings this song full circle, a three flavours ice creamy song - Love the chorus!!!
The Glamourous Life....Pop trash but in a good way. A reality TV song about ambition, similar to a Girls Aloud track but doesnt take itself seriously. I think the track is laughing at itself. The world has gone crazy everyone chasing fame. Blondes, Champage, Spray Tans....Whatever!
You're The One (Pantheistik Remix)....If you liked the Acoustic original like i did, this versions for you to dance to. A remix takes some emotion away but who cares when your drunk in a club with the music loud. The remix is inspired, ticks like the clock sound on Pink Floyd. I can hear 80's retro dance pop here.
Ashley Collins has stamped her talent all over this record. From dirty electronica to Acoustic Tender Songs and Big Dance Beats it borders on Rock in some places. She has true versatility as a singer and performer. Most of these songs will work well Acoustic. The production is Amazing! She has range, style, looks and its got plenty
of surprises for your ears. Dance or listen its up to you, remember dont judge a book by its cover, but even if you do its still sexy and will allure you ;-) America has Gaga, Australia has Kylie, Scotland has....Ashley Collins
SuperDiva, Your The One, First Love, SugarRush.
