I could have just written this under the "special christmas edition", but this original release was the one l brought so l may as well put what l thought down, since nobody else did.

It can only be somebody who has followed Enya's career from the first album to this to be able to say - this is Enya's most interesting collection since "Shepherd Moons". Someone unfamiliar wouldn't be able to tell this apart from the other albums.

If you think of the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" Enya can be an example of that. She, for as talented as she is, never been one to experiment, embrace modern sounds or step out of the comfort zone. Of course some people don't care about things like that, the music she makes are like soothing lullabies to relax and unnerve you. Her Tolkien-esque world is something to lose yourself into for 45 minutes.

This is the most vocal heavy album she has ever done, "drifting" is the only instrumental to be heard here. It is also with each album for a few songs to be sung in another language. "Sumiregusa" is sung in Japanese while "Less than a pearl," "The river sings" and "Water shows the hidden heart' are sung in a language, created by Enya's long time collaborator Roma Ryan, called "Loxian".

Amazing album

The river sings is my favourite, try to listen this with a good surround and bass and you will feel , yeah feel it from the sound ;)

Enya is from Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland, which she left in 1980 to join the Irish band Clannad, the group that already featured her older brothers and sisters. She stayed with Clannad for two years, then left, hooking up with producer Nicky Ryan and lyricist Roma Ryan, with whom...
