About Pip Blom

Amsterdam's lo-fi indie pop quartet Pip Blom were swiftly tagged as "One's to Watch" since their 2016 inception and a series of scuzzy singles. Originally conceived as the solo project of the band's namesake, Pip Blom grew into a full-fledged band as her music began to draw attention from the press and a live setup beckoned. Sharing a stylistic affinity with '90s alt-rock and Brit-pop, early singles like "Truth" also revealed the canny knack she had for a pop melody.

Blom came from a musical family and was inspired to forge a career in music by the tales her parents told her of life on the road from when they were in a band in their youth. She began to make music alone, D.I.Y.-style in her bedroom, before releasing her first material in 2016. She put out several more singles that year, and as her music began to make an impression on a wider audience she realized a band was essential if she was to perform live. Enlisting her brother Tender on backing vocals and guitar, and her friends Casper van der Lans on bass and Gini Cameron on drums, the newly minted band went into 2017 as Blom had, with the singles "School" and "Babies Are a Lie." The group put together a CD compilation of their singles, which was self-released and sold at their shows, and later in 2017 the band put out the track "I think I'm in Love," which marked the first song the band recorded in a professional studio. Having cited the Breeders as a major influence, Pip Blom were later invited to support them on their 2018 European tour.
