Yuk I

I really love Carlos Santana's work, but this is something different. It assaults your ears from beginning to end and anyway what is "Riders on the Storm" doing in there as a "guitar classic?" It's a wonderful track by the Doors, yes, but it's an electric piano piece not a guitar classic at all. There were so many other tracks that would qualify to be on this album. For true guitar classics there are tracks by Gary Moore, Black Sabbath, Wishbone Ash, Rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray Vaughan, ...the list goes on, but you won't find many "classics" here I'm afraid.

It's a bunch of relentless pop singles and a far cry from the essential Santana such as you'll find on Supernatural, Abraxas or Caravanserai. Go buy those, but leave this one to the teeny boppers. It gives me a headache by the time I'm halfway through it I'm afraid. Even the cover design makes it look like a cheap label compilation!

This is really good, but I didnt know many of these

First things first; Chris Cornell & Santana's version of Whole Lotta Love is BRILLIANT! IMHO better than the original, dare I say? And im a big Led Zep fan. Chris nailed it, and Santana's riff has more meat to it than Jimmy's. Easily the best track on the album :)
Fortunate Son also surprised me, but Back In Black didnt quite cut it :( overall, I like this album, great guitar sounds and the singers sound great! 9/10

One of the all time masters at work

If you love the electric guitar, specifically if you love it in the hands of Carlos Santana, you simply just have to buy this album. You will not be disappointed !

Santana is the primary exponent of Latin-tinged rock, particularly due to its combination of Latin percussion (congas, timbales, etc.) with bandleader Carlos Santana's distinctive, high-pitched lead guitar playing. The group was the last major act to emerge from the psychedelic San Francisco music scene of the 1960s and it enjoyed massive success at the end of the decade and into the early '70s. The musical direction then changed to a more contemplative and jazzy style as the band's early personnel...
