You haven't got this Album?

During a recent drinking session, a friend started playing this album. Previously, I hadn't been introduced to Joe's work with the Mescaleros but this has now become one of my most played albums. If, like me, you hadn't had the privilege of hearing this - just buy it - Joe Strummers best work and I am including London Calling in that list. Without doubt, a man who cast a Long Shadow....

Seriously right the first time i heard this i was 11 now im 15 and i still love it is the best album that joe has ever done accept for london calling of course but by far the 2 best simply beautiful

Strummer's Fairwell

This album really did speak out to me, it truly shows what Joe had planned for the Mescaleros, I believe that if he was still here today than this is the type of music he would be making. There are some amazing songs on this album, from Coma Girl to Get Down Moses which has a rockabilly opening riff. To their (Mescaleros) cover of Bob Marley’s Redemption Song and Long Shadow which both feature Johnny Cash as lead guitar, and songs that reflect his Clash days. All In A Day and Arms Aloft, where both songs are about the events in Strummer's life post Clash. Finally Burning Street's which is a new twist on London's Burning, and Silver and Gold, the last song he ever recorded before he died.

This is a true epic farewell to one of music’s influential artists, and if you are a clash fan then this is a definite recommendation.
