Customer Reviews

Moving and Stylish

Scott from "Reel Big Fish" has always, to its fans, been the "second frontman." Seeing the work of the Littlest Man Band, this is a shame. His vocal range is stunning, and although some of the songs lack the depth of others ("Maybe I" is one of the low points) there are enough brilliant tracks to keep this a 5* album. Highlights are "Always Sayin'" and "It's You" - the two real 'singley' tracks, and the amazing "Better Man", where accoustic guitar and trumpet make up the sparse but beautiful accompaniment to an exhausted sounding song, full of regret and hurt. Its an album to fall asleep to. Tracks 3,4,6,7,8 and 9 are all quiet, meaningful tracks. I would reccomend this album just for its individuality and Scott's voice, but there's so much more to it.

Bitter(sweet) Book Ends

The title refers to general themes in the music, not the quality of the music. I would have given it 5 stars but did not wish to appear sycophantic on the albums (and my own) first review. I am a fan of Reel Big Fish and have seen them live on several occasions, so naturally I was interested in seeing what Dan & Scott had put together as the enduring brass section, of aforementioned fish..... It's a good offering, particular favourites are 'Always Sayin', 'Better Man' and 'It's You.' If you like the melancholy angst from Cheer Up, particularly the last track you will love this. Scott's vocal range is impressive(!) but it just seems to work. This album has grown on me and I highly recommend it to fans of The Fish who appreciate the more 'grown up' aspects of their last two albums.

This album has everything.

I adore this album, I can't believe there aren't more. It really has everything I need for a perfect album. While the tracks are great alone, they really work as something extra when together. There's parts to sing along with and parts to just lay back and soak up. Play it loud.
