The Third Man Soundtrack
Unfortunately the quality of this soundtrack is very poor. It sounds as if the recording has been crudely copied from a movie reel of the film. Little attempt has been made to "clean" the tracks. The conversion to the digital format exacerbates these flaws.
It is also important to note is that dialogue is interspersed within the tracks. This means that it is not possible to isolate the wonderful music written and performed by Anton Karas.
I do not want to downplay the excellent dialogue from the screenplay performed by legendary actors but if you just want to enjoy the music I would suggest this is not for you.
I wish that I had read the review below before purchasing!
As stated below - quality is utterly awful. Plus it is not at all clear that the music is completely interrupted with snippets from the film. This is one of my favourite films however, I wanted the music from the soundtrack alone. Am sure people will site the titles of the tracks as clues but I expect far better… FAR BETTER.
Waste of money
This is the first time I have ever left a review about a purchase I have made online. And I mean ever! I'm leaving this review because I feel cheated into buying a 'soundtrack' album that is basically audio extracts of the film including all dialogue - I wanted the soundtrack, by that I mean - just the music! Complete waste of money.
