Good LP but a little forced.

Out of all of Gibson's LP's this is my least favorite. Released in 1993 with little fanfare from Atlantic Records this is an obvious attempt by the label to steer Gibson down the "dance pop" road by teaming her up with dance writers & producers Evan Rogers & Carl Sturken. (The label did want Gibson to work with the then flavour of the month Babyface but she refused.) With the exception of a few songs the LP does not quite fit in with the rest of Gibson's catalogue and listening to it you feel that she does not have her heart fully in the making of it. (She has said in interviews since its release & her departure from Atlantic that she did not get to make the LP she wanted to do at the time). The sand out tracks for me on this LP are Losin Myself - this is pure Gibson, Free Me - this could have been a huge hit for her had Atlantic decided to release it (which they did not) and also How Can This Be & Shock Your Mama. The rest of the CD especially tracks 7,8,& 9 could very well pass as B Sides for singles. Though with time they do grow on you but as a long time Gibson fan it's not one of my favorites.

Gibson's time at the top of the charts was brief, but it was quite successful, producing five Top Ten singles, including two number ones, and two multi-platinum albums.
