I really don't understand

Metallica are possibly the greatest band of our time, and every album is either awesome or at least has its good parts. What I don't get is who is meant to buy this... anyone new to Metallica is not going to spend 80 quid for the complete works of a band they may or may not like. Equally, massive metallica fans who know that the money won't be wasted are likely to already have all of the albums and could top up the odd live track they don't have for 79p. I also really wouldn't recommend anyone in the 'inbetween' stage of knowing they like metallica but not having all the albums getting them all in one go - it would be much better to get a new album and listen to it properly rather than blitzing through the massive discography - that way you don't miss out on any of the lesser-known (but equally good) tracks. 5 stars for the content, 1 star for the stupid idea = 3 stars.

Okay i can totally understand the want to listen to such an amazing band, im only 16 years old have have been listening to metallica for about 3 years now i own all there albums, demos, there Live Sh*t: Binge & Purge box set and a couple of other things off their official website like the gigs i went to. However, i do feel that it still was cheaper than £80 to get all the studio albums i worked out the other day that i have spent only £95 on every thing i have 'MetallicA' thats 310 songs! the best thing i found was go to boot fairs they seem to give things away there i picked up in my view there best 3 albums "kill 'em all, Metallica (black album), and Master of Puppets" all for £1.50. so if your looking to be a devoted metallica fan search around a bit first

All the albums, but not much else

There is an awful lot more Metallica available of CD than what is listed here ! The have been a lot of singles, some with 2 or 3 disks each, adding up to LOTS of bsides (mostly live) not found here. For £80 I would expect everything, and then some !!!

Formed: 1981 in Los Angeles, CA

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Metallica were easily the best, most influential heavy metal band of the '80s and '90s. Responsible for bringing the genre back to Earth, the bandmates looked and talked like they were from the street, shunning the usual rock star games of metal musicians during the mid-'80s pop-metal renaissance. Metallica also expanded the limits of thrash, using speed and volume not for their own sake, but to enhance their intricately structured compositions. The release of 1983's Kill 'Em All marked the beginning...
