Album Review

Camel Bobsled Race, Q-Bert's megamix of DJ Shadow music, isn't quite the masterpiece it oculd have been, yet it's hardly a disaster. Recorded live, with both DJs scratching, the mix essentially reconfigures the bulk of Endtroducing, adding a couple of singles to the mix. There are layers of new samples and scratches, taken from everything from spoken-word records to jazz. The end result is intriguing and often entertaining, even if it doesn't offer any new revelations. Camel Bobsled Race was released as a bonus disc on the U.S.-only singles and B-sides compilation Preemptive Strike.

Hurtling Humpback Music

With a down beat feel that is brimming with energy the Q-Bert versions of the original Shadow sound are withy out a doubt some of the best pieces of contemporary music any where in any genre. The 'head for that cave' reprise is a sci-fi masterpiece of sound which leaves you with only one wish, to hear on a large rig at high volume. Nearly as good as the 'Brainfreeze' 'Organdoner', and that takes some whacking....

Bobsled Race for a Camel inclined

Although he'd already done a scattering of original and production work (during 1991-1992 for Hollywood Records) by the time Mo'...
