Chop Suey

DJ Yoda offers up some great surprises on this album. It's not often I go for music made by hip-hop and electronic DJs who specialise mostly in sampling and then remix it via the turntables, as I haven't known that much about it myself in life, but this album just changed everything at this moment. I have one issue though that doesn't quite make it 5 stars however...there are some tracks on there I'm not all kean with while the great ones outperform the others a little too much. But maybe that's just the way I've been hearing it, all in all. With some interesting collaborative work from the likes of top dance/electro/hip-hop rapper Sway on Pizza, A Boy Called George (who I hear from some sources is really Boy George under another psudonym, but correct me if I'm wrong) on Happy and Man Like Me (recognisable for their appearance on an IKEA advert once) on Idiot, to name but a few, that's partly what makes the album a 4 star effort. But the experimentation with the Trans-Siberian March Band on Barrier is the most witty and cunning of the lot for me on the album, and Charlie Sheen sounds great as a warm-up to partying or if you're heading on a night out, due to it's rap lyrics courtesy of Greg Nice, about being who one wants to be, and for its overall catchiness. Finally, the title track is one of those tracks that contains electronic sounds that may make it feel very 80s, (19 by Paul Hardcastle, anyone?) but that doesn't necessary make it a bad thing, coz I like that feeling of the genre, when I hear it. Not to mention the added scratching and turntablist effects, for the sake of it.
In summing up, the tracks to download for definate are: Chop Suey, Charlie Sheen, Happy, Pizza, Idiot and Barrier.
