It's been a long time coming!

At last! What a fabulous collection of songs written and sung by one of the twentieth century's great talents. This is some of Gilbert O'Sullivan's finest work. It takes me right back to the 1970s and my childhood. However, these songs don't seem to date, they are as fresh, quirky and relevant now as they ever were. An absolute gem of an album, and a genuine delight to listen to. An underrated genius and an unsung hero of the 70's pop scene, this collection of songs proves, ever so effortlessly, that this man is truly a fine artist.

Undoubtably the master of the "Whimsical ditty" Gilbert's melodic tunes will relax you and excite you all in one go. But there are many of his songs that would equally fit on to this compilation, I feel that this should be a double album so that these omitted greats, can get an airing! Check out Gilbertville for an up to date Gilbert offering! Andy

The Berry Vest

It's a mystery to me why this man isn't lionised. His gift for setting stories within heart-stopping melodies is unequalled. Whether it's the forlorn beauty and words of loss contained within Alone Again (Naturally), or the briliantly observed description of mundane modern life, wistfully described in Nothing Rhymed; as true now as when this song was written over thirty years ago. Ageless. Or enjoy the words-don't-quite-fit the-melody beauty of We will. And that's before the paternal love poem to Claire; adored by many at the time it was released and impossibly touching still. Nothing is throwaway here; each track a delight. Thank you, Mr O'Sullivan. We would be poorer without your songs.

Singer/songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan successfully combined a flair for Beatlesque popcraft with an old-fashioned music hall sensibility to emerge as one of the most distinctive and popular new performers of the early 1970s. Born Raymond O'Sullivan in Waterford, Ireland on December 1, 1946, he went on to attend art school in Swindon, England, writing songs throughout his formative years and sending out demo tapes to little avail. After graduating he went to work in a London department store; one of...
