iTunes Review

A reflective, mature blast of sun-kissed nostalgia from rock’s hard-living royal family—it’s a prospect that could throw off fans hooked on Kings Of Leon’s brand of sacredly profane hellraising. These members of the flock should not be too worried. Yes, with the moonshine-swigging country of “Back Down South” and smooth ‘70s axework on “Beach Side”, the Followills’ fifth record brims with an appealingly hazy sentimentality. But—as evidenced by the sinister atmospherics of “The End”—these Pentecostal boys can’t quite quit the dark side.

Bring back the first 2 albums!!

Album is ok getting a bit too mainstream

Come Around Sundown, more like Come Around Aha Shake Hearbreak/Because of the Times!!

The Kings didn't half set themselves a tough task, of writing fifth album, when they gave birth to Only By the Night (which is still charting in the UK Top 40!!) The biggest rock album in the last two years which cemented them as one of, if not THE, biggest band in the world today. When I first heard Radioactive, my initial reaction was one of disappointment; as powerful as the song is, it has no killer hook or sing-a-long chorus. My first listen to the whole album was most enjoyable as the Kings have gone back to their roots, but not completely abandoned the 'commercial' sounds of OBtN, as many of the tracks sound similar to those on Aha Shake... and Because of the Times, which is no bad thing! To finish the album off with a stripped down version of Closer is brilliant, as it is, in my opinion, the best track on the previous album.

The Kings are on form yet again, with a more basic and humble fifth album, which is sure to bring them yet more success!!

Fantastic! To those 12yr old spotty know-it-alls who score this low, go out and do better!!!!! It rocks. By a 42yr old who's been in the industry 24yrs.
Just get it!

Formed: 2000 in Nashville, TN

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Initially embraced as "the Southern Strokes" for their resurrection and reinvention of Dixie-styled rock & roll, Kings of Leon steadily morphed into an experimental rock outfit during the 2000s. The Tennessee-bred quartet debuted in 2003 with the Holy Roller Novocaine EP, whose blend of raw, unpolished boogie rock was further explored on their debut full-length, Youth & Young Manhood. Such revivalist music was matched by a similarly revivalist appearance -- including long hair, mustaches, and tight-fitting...
